Getting Deep with Dill(staticdill on instagram) who is known for his front levers and muscle ups. The man has held 34 seconds front levers and has had a max 25-30 rep muscle up rep count in 1 single set. For those who know how difficult these moves are would know how much dedication it takes to get to where Dill has gotten to in this sport. It speaks volumes about his commitment and love for the sport.
This is my first episode all things calisthenics and I am stoked to interview Dill Smith, a star calisthenics athlete, who not only agreed to share his experience and thoughts on calisthenics but also was the first person in the calisthenics world who got me introduced to this sport. I remember tagging along with him at the Sherman Oaks park in LA and at Venice Muscle beach to learn from him and the rest is history. Dill took me under his wing and not only taught me the basics, he also introduced me to the calisthenics circle in LA and my life has never been the same ever since.
In this conversation, we talk about how Dill got started in calisthenics. We discuss how his friends Jimmy(@ji.tra_) and Kyle introduced him to this sport. We talk about how important it is to ease into the sport for someone who is new to it, the importance of consistency, stretching regularly, and to listen to your body and stay injury free in the process since this sport could be taxing to the body.
Dill also gives a shout out to one of the biggest calisthenics athletes in the community - Thomas Kurganov(@thomas_kurganov). If you follow the sport, I am sure you have seen his content. Thomas is not only a huge inspiration to the entire calisthenics community across the world but is also a source of inspiration for Dill to continue growing in this sport.
We also talk about diet and Dill's friends and fellow calisthenics athletes Sebastian(@_elhalcon and @hand.stian) and David(daviddude360). I've seen Sebastian in action and he's STRONG!!!!
Dill's favorite calisthenics skill: Front lever(longest hold of 34 seconds). I know what you are thinking. Yes he is strong. Very strong!
Dill's calisthenics goals: One arm handstands and straight bar handstands.
